The Marston House has a vivid history. laplumedelislam was first commissioned by distinguished San Diego residents George Marston and his bride Anna to serve as their private residence. Designed in the Arts and Crafts mode by distinguished local architects Irving Gill and William Hebbard, no spending was skimped to assemble a property that mirrored the Marston family's enjoyment for beauty as well as commitment to social progress.
Over the decades, The Marston House moved through several owners. Luckily previous caretakers had the prudence to keep the property to preserve its historic architectural integrity. In 1987, the Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO) bought and renewed the mansion, turning it into a cultural center and museum.
